I am honestly surprised how few insects and spiders I’d seen while in Florida, so I’ll just share some more of this Magnolia Green Jumping Spider (Lyssomanes viridis) from a few months ago…
Some of the butterflies I have seen during my time in Florida…
When I first photographed these grasshoppers, I assumed it was two different species… but it turns out that they are just a juvenile and an adult Eastern Lubber Grasshopper (Romalea microptera). They are large grasshoppers – about 2-3.5 inches long with the females being larger…
If my ID is correct, this is a Halloween Pennant Dragonfly (Celithemis eponina). It was being fairly cooperative, so I decided to try my hand at some in-flight photos. Results were ok, but could be a little sharper. I’ll have to keep trying.

It has been quite a while since I’ve shared a spider photo… Again, as with all of these jumping spiders I found in Bali, I have zero idea what it is actually called, but I like the face on this one.
I took these videos of these American Giant Millipedes (Narceus americanus) over a month ago while I was hiking in McConnells Mill State Park. I recently decided to put them together and make a semi-educational video similar to the Weaver Ants video I made while…
Again – no clue on what species this is, and I’m not even sure what to call it other than as I described it in the post title. I did share another photo of one of these spiders in a previous post.
Again – like the other jumping spiders I found in Bali, I have no clue what the name is for this spider (if there even is one), but with that yellow coloring and the black stripes, I figured I’d call it a Bumblebee Jumping Spider.
A handful of dragonflies photographed at Jiwa Damai…
