Today’s nudibranch I’ve labeled as “The Orange Dragon” because that is what I think of when I look at it, and tracking down its exact name is providing a bit tricky. A possible candidate is Placida barackobamai (yes, it is named after former president Barak Obama), and a couple other Placida species also are possibilities. The only problem – this tiny little guy (which was spotted by a keen eyed Svetlana) was photographed at the Blue Heron Bridge in Florida – and I can’t find any Placida species that is supposed to be in the Atlantic, they are all listed as being from Central or Western Pacific waters. So yeah, either it is a different species or it is a transplant that is not supposed to be in Florida. So I’ll stick with calling it the Orange Dragon for now.
