While we’re on the subject of species similar to stuff I’ve seen in Florida… I previously posted photos some Flapping Dingbats (Gastropteron chacmolis) from Florida, but up here in Washington, they get Winged Sea Slugs (Gastropteron pacificum). Though I’ve never seen the Flapping Dingbats swimming in Florida, their PNW cousins certainly could earn the name as when they are see, it is often swimming in the water by flapping their tiny little wings. Unfortunately I have been extremely unsuccessful in getting a photo of them swimming, so you’ll have to settle for some of them crawling in the sand.
