During a particular night dive at the Blue Heron Bridge, I was surprised to see this octopus… not because octos were uncommon at the bridge, far from it… but rather because this is a Caribbean Reef Octopus – identifiable by that nice bluish-green color it displayed more and more as I spent more time with it. Florida is well within their documented range, but it was the first and only Caribbean Reef Octo I saw during my time there.
