On a recent dive, my buddy Laura spotted one of these Yellow-ringed Janolus (Janolus flavoanulatus) nudibranchs, and that seemed to open the flood gates and we started seeing a bunch of them. At one point I found a small area that had four of them within about two square feet. I personally like the ones that are more purple colored than the ones that look more brownish-red… I don’t know if that is a juvenile/adult difference or what, but either way they’re both pretty!
Oh – and if you look closely, you’ll see they have a little mohawk between their rhinophores! And that thin little tail they have sticking out the back is kind of funny too!
