One of the days in Grand Tetons National Park, there were several ospreys hunting where the Snake River flows out of Jackson Lake (right at Jackson Lake Dam). They were completely unconcerned with the small crowd of photographers that had gathered at the walkway there. Not many birds can hover like this, and it makes for some really interesting photos to see how their wings move to keep such large birds floating in the air in a single spot as they search the waters below for their dinner…
